(St. Paul, MN) – A series of webinars offered by the Forest Products Management Development Institute (FPMDI), Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, and Dovetail Partners will address key aspects of green marketing and related trends. The series, Positioning for Green – Opportunities for Forest Products, includes five online events that participants can access from their offices or home computers. The fourth webinar in the series will take place on March 11th and will examine the competing forest certification programs and trends in forest certification.
“Forest certification was developed to address key concerns about forest sustainability, and over the past decade, has evolved into a complex and competitive marketplace for green forest products,” says Kathryn Fernholz, Executive Director of Dovetail Partners, an experienced forest certification auditor and webinar presenter.
The webinar on March 11th will examine the fundamentals of the forest certification programs being used in the United States and Canada, the similarities and differences in their requirements, and the trends and impacts of their adoption.
“The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Tree Farm and PEFC are all active in the U.S. marketplace and offer specific opportunities and trade-offs for land managers and companies seeking the right fit for their organization,” says Fernholz.
