A Quick Guide to EcoFactory's Eco News

Earth

EcoFactory is a lot of things—eco news, eco community, eco blogs. We report only the finest handmade, fair trade eco news for eco people. And unlike some other sites, we write most of it ourselves. So what do we report on?

Energy

Our energy eco news category contains reports on all the major happenings in the green (and non-green) energy field. We've recently written about wind power in Texas, solar energy, and carbon capture and storage technology. We've also done a few stories on events we've been to, like Green Cities™ Florida, and event speakers' takes on the energy issue.

Politics

In our politics section, we report not just political eco news, but also humanitarian issues and anything else we feel is relevant to green-minded people. If Congress passes a new environmental bill or changes the Endangered Species Act again, you'll find it here. With the Obama administration taking action on so many environmental issues, there has been much to report in the field of political eco news.

Business

With so many businesses jumping on the green bandwagon, there's plenty of environmental news to report on in the business field. We've done on site visits to some ongoing green projects, like the green Casa de las Flores home being built in Winter Park, FL, and an upcoming article on Acclima's irrigation system moisture sensors, a system which will change how lawns are watered and agricultural fields irrigated. Be watching for updates on those subjects in the business eco news section.

Science

Ultimately, it's science that's at the root of the green movement, so it's natural that EcoFactory would feature a science section on the eco news area of the site. We've interviewed a biotechnologist about genetically engineered crops, researched the "islands" of Lake Wales Ridge in Central Florida, and written about a scientific drill ship that will attempt to bore a hole down to the earth's mantle. And that's just in the last week before this article was written.

Society

If science is at the root of the green movement, it's society that forms the leaves, where the moving and shaking, not to mention the results, will show up. EcoFactory's society eco news section contains reports on green issues like Texaco's toxic waste dumping in Ecuador and the societal effects thereof, as well as not-necessarily-green topics like gay marriage in California. If it's controversial, it probably goes here.

Headlines

Our headlines page compiles the most important and newest of all of the above eco news categories. You'll also find news feeds from the Environmental News Service, which represents the only news on EcoFactory that isn't homegrown. We might have heard the news elsewhere, but we always report it in our own carefully researched, as-balanced-as-we-can-make-it style. For quality eco news, look no further than EcoFactory.
