I must say...Green Cities™ Florida was really cool. I browsed the showcase filled with green organizations. I met some really interesting people like Trish Riley, a journalist and author of the popular book "The Idiots Guide to Green Living". I listened to a few speakers and had a few favorites, one being Marci Zaroff. She was interesting to me because she was into organic fashion. She spoke about her journey to becoming a successful green business woman and the success of her company "Under the Canopy." She spoke about her efforts to re-evaluate and change fabric manufacturing plants over seas to become fair trade organizations.
I also enjoyed listening to Phil Laurien speak about his efforts to bring a rail system to Florida. I completely agreed with him. After listening to him speak I spoke with him about how much I enjoyed living in Florida but the one reason I would leave would be because there is not enough public transportation. He said he would quote me on that, and I really hope it helps change people's minds to be more open to a public rail system. During his session Phil Laurien informed those who didn't know that the Florida Sun Rail idea had been turned down. I am rooting for you Phil, to really get the minds of Florida "on track!" Stay tuned, I will keep you posted on more speakers and events during Green Cities™ Florida that I enjoyed.
